Jan Hundsdorfer recommends The Griffins:
"The brand from the Geneva club: The founder of the "Griffin's Club", Bernard Grobet is aficionado and cigars were an important part of the club atmosphere from 1984. From 1984, Grobet produced cigars with a special abdominal binder exclusively for his club. The club visitors were especially enthusiasted towards these cigars from the Dominican Republic. Under the label the Griffin's, they were soon available in specialized stores in Switzerland and the USA. Since 1992, the Oettinger Imex AG, the u. a. Davidoff Tabakprodukte, owner of the brand, has the Griffin's manufactured in a joint venture with tobacco specialist Hendrik Kelner ("Tabacos Dominicanos").
The Griffin's Club emblem in Geneva, the Griffin or Griffon, is a very ancient mythical animal, often depicted as a hybrid creature with lion's body, bird's head and wings, symbolizing protection and guarding treasures. Named after him, the club lives up to its name and impresses with exquisite contemporary interiors, complemented by sumptuous fabrics and golden accents.
